I find starting a logo for a new client can be really fun, incredibly exciting, and sometimes a daunting process and task. That is only because I know there are hundreds, thousands of possibilities of the directions my creative pen or mouse could take me and the project! My mind starts to race, and inevitably, I draw a blank. Gotta love the creative mind . . it sees something shiney and . . . arrrrrghhhhhhh! Does this ever happen to you?! You just don’t know where to start, or dont know where to go next, or are afraid there is something brilliant just around the corner that you just can’t quite get to?!
I like to start with one thought, color, element, then go in a completely different direction, writing and drawing as fast as my mind and hand connection will let me, but when your mind goes blank what do you do?!
The fifth stage of creativity from my college course on creativity says that one incubates on it, engaged with other activities, those pesky little grey cells germinate and poof a solution presents itself. I like to look for inspiration. I am a seeker and a visual person and get excited at how other people have solved a problem (“How do you solve a problem like Maria?” from the sound of music is playing like a soundtrack in my head now . . . but I digress).
